Today we celebrate the 23rd anniversary of I Nyoman Calitra at Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana. He is amongst a few team members who have been through the various eras of the property: from when Tanah Gajah, Ubud was a private family residence, through it being a luxury boutique resort under the name The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah for 15 years, to when it returned to its roots and the legacy of Mr. Hendra Hadiprana and rebranded to Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana in 2020.

Though the property has been through several changes, the passion and sincerity of the team has not changed. The Hadiprana family has empowered Calitra and the entire team with trust and encouragement which allows them to develop their skills and knowledge.

"Mr. Hadiprana considered us (the team) as a part of his family, and he has blessed us with love, care and respect which drives us to treat our guests as part of the family by serving them with our hearts".

Calitra shared a story when Mr. Hendra Hadiprana taught the team how to craft a centerpiece by placing fresh flowers on dry twigs and on the ears of each statue in the property. At Tanah Gajah, they used the red hibiscus which blooms every day at dawn. Mr. Hadiprana used to set a challenge that the person who can collect the most red hibiscus flowers from around the property would win a prize. Tanah Gajah, Ubud team continues to take part in this joyful morning ritual until today. 

Calitra believes that God has given him the opportunity to grow along with Tanah Gajah, to develop his skills from a gardener to driver supervisor - where he can have more opportunities to personally interact with guests. This is a part of his passion. Throughout his time at Tanah Gajah, he has had the opportunity to serve various profiles of guests such as Indonesian ministers, great art collectors and diplomats when they were hosted to experience Tanah Gajah by Mr. Hendra Hadiprana.

Despite the drastic effect of the pandemic on tourism in Bali, Calitra is very thankful that he has been given an opportunity to develop his skills in another department, maintenance. He is currently responsible for repairing defects and ensuring that the buildings and equipment within the resort are well maintained - ready to welcome guests, so they can enjoy a relaxing stay paired with sincere and attentive service from Calitra and the rest of Tanah Gajah, Ubud family.
